I used to live near Houston. The people are so laid back and friendly but proud of their heritage and won't back down from anything. I miss Texas and the people there left alot of good friends behind when I moved back North.

Caddo language, never heard of this, is this a Native American group? I thought Texas came from Tejas meaning "Tiles" in Spanish. Never have I investigated this so now I will look into this. I wish there would be a way to return to these to be able to see other people's replies to one's comment.

quicksilver, I call home a small north east Texas town, the fifth oldest town in the state, just farther than a stones throw from Caddo Lake. I love the lake. The wildness of cypress trees, Spanish moss, herons, and alligators. I spent many hours in a pontoon boat cruising with an old love. Wonderful memories.

Mr. Trivia Fun, we learned this in elementary school in Texas History class. Caddo was the indigenous tribe in the area. There were several others, but this is the one we got the state name from.
