What were Nacht Witches, also known as "Nachthexen?"

Wow, I never heard about these women before. I wonder what their survival rate was? My father flew as a rear gunner in the RAF during WWII... he was 19 years old. Their survival rate was 5%. That means 95% of them were killed. I believe all war is horrendous..
