Who were the first Europeans to discover the American Continents?
Correct answer: The Vikings

Don't you just love it that history books like to claim individuals or other races discovered a country when Indigenous peoples were already there 😂 such an ignorant & arrogant Western perspective!

Lilibeth
Well, scientifically, we all started off in Africa. So I guess for those who want immigrants to go home, we should ALL head back to Africa.

The Earth is 4billion+ years old so to think that past civilizations haven't come and gone is ludicrous.

Humanity did not begin in the USA Even what we refer to as Native Americans journeyed here at some point in time as did people who journeyed to other parts of the world to establish nations.

CherishedAlien74365, I don’t think the Vikings stole North America. They did however take over north western France, large parts of England and establish the precursor to Russia, Kievan Rus. Spent some time in Sicily, too.

Lilibeth, it's the use of the word "discover" and what that implies that should be done away with. In this case, Europeans "arrived" or "landed" perhaps, but "discover" implies it was wide open, unclaimed land.

everything I thought was wrong in school books

I'm pretty sure there were people already here. Maybe THEY "discovered it.

Uhhhh... The Cape of Good Hope is in South Africa -- no where near the Pacific Ocean. I'm sure they MEANT Cape Horn but simple errors like this make EVERYTHING they claim suspect for error. This is nowhere NEAR the first error I've found so this site has ZERO credibility in my book!!! ZERO!!!

Vikings also had trade routes in the Mediterranean and where's there is trade there's folk lore and news. Europe knew of the great lands to the west.just no reason to go there.

If there are skeletal remains why don't they test them , there's got to be some buried somewhere , surely they could understand what killed them off quite easily
