MeSmartU2, Actually, the Hoover Dam had a different name when built. It was renamed for him as it was built while he was president.

Curt, actually the opposite party wanted to name it boulder dam and then it was decided to name it Hoover Dam because it was begun during his administration but completed after he left office.

Curt, I think it was renamed after Hoover was president. The opposing party didn't want to give him credit, but then relented.
