There was a piano bar in Honolulu called the Rose and Crown. I drank there in the early 70s when I was in the Navy, but I wasn’t in the Navy for life. The piano man was a great entertainer and probably raked in over $1000/night in tips.

Great artist, and musician. One of my favorites is Goodnight Saigon. Us Marines who was on the GUAM in Grenada heard it a lot.

Makes sense that he flashbacked to where it all started and then he skyrocketed.

Billy Joel has an ongoing rift with the band Phish. every time one of them play multiple shows at MSG in NYC, they set the record for most performances at that venue, but not a friendly rivalry.

I got sick of hearing it after a trip to Jamaica. The resort had a piano bar which meant Piano Man was done multiple times a night.
