It looks yummy, but maybe this is a dumb question, but what are lardons?

Castra
cookie,
Not a dumb question.
Lardons are cubes or strips of fatty bacon.
Probably, (actually definitely 🤣) not good for you, but delicious.😀

Pchblsom, noodles, noodles! Preferably wide egg noodles.

cr8zyred, in a recipe, substitues for "lardons" would be regular smoked bacon, or panchetta, Canadian bacon or smoked ham... so that when diced and fried crispy would impart a salty, smokey flavor and/or crunchy texture

Melode
this dish is so good . I had it years ago in a fancy restaurant in canada.never had anything like it.delicious is an understatement. leave it to French cuisine.

A real coq au vin is made with rooster. What is described here is probably the American version which spoil the all dish, the meat of a rooster is completely different than a regular chicken. It is more tough therefore it needs to be cooked several hours.

PetalDemonwitch1130
PetalDemon Witch, lardon is bacon-it's just "fancy"😁

TheArtCType
