What they don't tell you here is that the story was loosely based on the rather cheesy 1958 movie, It! the terror from beyond space. In that film they land on a planet, an alien gets onboard, hides out in the air ducts, like ALIEN, and starts bumping off the crew. At the end, they trap it in a manhole like doorway, put their spacesuits on and pump the air out into space rather than jettisoning it into the vacuum

Ridley was a tough woman. I wanted to name my daughter after her. When I was pregnant with my first son, I was so sick. It was our joke that the alien was getting ready to come out. That was how my morning sickness felt!

I'd only just seen this recently bc my son wanted to watch it with me. And when I got that bad headache that alien-chest popper from the movie came to mind, and I told my son that it felt like that. He was sorry for my pain but got a good laugh out of my remark! 😄
