Quite probably the single most influential playwright of all time, and yet so little is known about him or his wife.

littlesaint 72, yes, but not everyone knows this. Many think of the beautiful young actress in Princess Diaries before they think William Shakespeare's wife.

Since many actors choose their own 'stage' names, I'm thinking that the actress probably 'borrowed' the name of Shakespeare's wife. I've been to the place they were supposed to have lived (in Stratford-upon-Avon), and there's a lot of interesting stuff there, though nobody can confirm that Shakespeare or his wife were ever associated with most of it. Anne's supposed cottage and garden is a National Heritage site, I think (Could be wrong there, in which case I apologise!) .

Age gap doesn't matter but big age gaps were very common back then as most marriages among the upper classes was for status and wealth rather than love. But the risk of a baby born out of wedlock would be unthinkable so by family pressur own desire to do right it would almost certainly be the reason.

Is there an actress name Anne Hathaway, I was thinking of the character Jane Hathaway of The Beverly Hillbillies, I got the answer right because Shakespeare would never marry a Jane Hathaway who was a Head Secretary for Mr. Drysdale’s Bank, not Jethro liked her.
