Who is the founder of the University of Virginia?

The only thing Jefferson wanted on his tombstone was that he was the "Founder of the University of Virginia".

HandyPerception124, We are all limited by the times we lived in. It is part of our history. Therefore, the children of Sally Hemmings would not have been allowed to attend. However today, if they past the same entrance criteria as everyone else, they would have the opportunity to attend. It is no longer 1800 and bitterness will never improve things. We are living in a different time; not ideal but different and better.

LavenderDinosaur5098, Jefferson wanted to be remembered for three things on his headstone: that he was the author of the Declaration of Independence, author of the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, and the Founder of the University of Virginia. I was born and raised in Charlottesville, have seen the tombstone and toured Monticello at least 20 times, and most importantly and very proudly am a graduate of The University of Virginia with both a bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

YTaob, Have you read much history and watched the current news? Wake up. History does repeat itself and IS right at this time. Look at history around 1931 and then read today's CNN. Watch if the same people get voted back in. Don't believe me? Fine, I understand, but look at articles on the net in the Washington Post and New York Times.
