However, due to another series of events, Joseph became the King's second in command after interpreting the King's fearful dream. The dream warned of a great famine which would occur after several years of plenty. Jacob's interpretation gave the King a head's up to prepare stockpiles of grain which saved his kingdom from starvation. Jacob forgave his brothers and gave them enough grain to survive as well. Also, his brothers asked his forgiveness, making his earlier dream come true.
