Who would use a metronome?

I thought a Metronome was the name for a dwarf who live lives on the Paris underground train network!

Dancers can also use one. i.e Fred Astaire in( I think ) Royal Wedding.

I actually used a metronome when I was learning to weld.

I believe a true musician already has the beat/rhythm. maybe the metronome can help some. I’ve seen it used for Hipnosis, and definitely breathing techniques, including yoga.

I am a pianist. When I was still a student, metronomes used to be bulky, wooden, pyramid-shaped mechanisms. Then Yamaha and other music companies came out with more compact, digital one that need no winding, since they ran on batteries. Now, you can download metronome apps on your phone, with added features that the predecessors didn't have. Too bad for the mechanical & digital metronome manufacturers. They lost their business.
