What is a 'Hills Hoist'?

Definitely an iconic feature of being Australian & as many aussie kids did have fond memories of swinging around it feet of the ground!

Vivo, I live in an area that gets lots of rain, the older style of hills hoist are still hanging in there, maybe 50-80 years old best invention ever..
