What bay does the San Mateo Bridge cross?
Correct answer: San Francisco Bay

Mama Crow
I hate driving that bridge! It sits so low that you feel it's about to touch the water. The traffic is too fast, and the sides have only short guardrails. You feel like any bump or a tire blowout could throw you right into the bay! So scary!

Chezikeets
Oh that comforting to know. You need a car that's equiped for snorkeling.

Efandra2003, redwood city born and raised, but no way could i afford to live there now unless i won the lottery, not... lol

Molly Bear, wow, I lived in many parts of the bay and we took the bridge often. my mom and I were a little scared at how high the new bridge went back in the mid to late 70s, but it was gradual so it wasn't bad after you got used to it. my only problem was having cars that could only get up the hill at 40+miles per hour. I upset a good many ppl back in the day, even tho I stayed in the slow lane.
it's still a better commute than the golden gate bridge. no suicides either as far as I know. but I haven't been back to Cali since 2009, an can only afford to visit once every 10 or 15yrs.

KookyOrangutan5005

Miss Pringle, I agree with you, hate using the San Mateo bridge for the reasons you mention and the fact that it is often very windy too.

Miss Pringle, I got on that bridge by mistake the first time I drove to San Francisco...never been the same, but didn't know the name😯

Don't like driving any bridge, but that one is better than the Bay or the Golden Gate bridges.

I love the view from the San Mateo Bridge. We live in the East Bay and own our business on the peninsula. We mostly use the Dumbarton, but when we shop for supplies at Hayward Costco, we’ll take the SM. I LOVE OUR BAY!!!

stkmanmesa, at least a 15 min drive....been awhile since i used it

Anni
I lived in the bay half my life, and still visit it often. Coming from the west, the portion of the bridge that inclines with a curve to the left at the peak, has been the setting for a reoccurring nightmare of mine since I was 17. My bestie and I pulling a Thelma and Louis into the bay. I hate that bridge, I'd rather take the Bay Bridge.

Player #8573614, I used to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge regularly in the 70’s and 80’s

Mama Crow, try driving a semi over that bridge!

Mz. Pami
Nope. Nope and Nope. If I ever visit the state of California I'll take a hard pass on crossing this bridge. I can't swim so absolutely not!

The Bay Bridge between Oakland & SF is scariest to me. At one point you're driving steeply uphill at 70 mph (in the days b4 awful traffic), all you can see ahead is open water, because there's a sudden dogleg curve left in your windshield. And indeed many were squished to death on the lower level during the terrible earthquake in the 1980s.

After 60 + years as a native Cali girl, could never get use to crossing the Golden Gate! I’ll take the San Mateo any day!
