"REDSQUAW", i used to work at an airport and they had a guy drive round with loud hunter bird type sound blaring over the speakers to scare the wildlife away. what a weird job - animal scarer

My father worked for Boeing in the 60's-70's. He was a design engineer that helped design the 747.

Magnificent airliner. So much nicer to look at than the ugly Airbus A380, regardless of the fact that it carries less passengers, etc. Concorde and the 747 are my favourites, aesthetically speaking.

Lovely old plane...been across the Pacific and back in one.Spacious. Don't feel claustrophobic like the new planes today. Sardine tins, for bums on seats.

If you get the chance, check out the QANTAS museum in Longreach Queensland, Australia. they have a large number if aircraft you can look at and several you go inside of. Also one of a handful of places you can walk on the wing of 747.

Despite having one almost in my backyard, I got this wrong. Guess it was because I also had a 707 almost in my backyard as well. 707 was first to have jet engines.

I grew up near LAX Airport. When the 747 first flew by it looked so spooky weird because it appeared to be floating still in the air when approaching to land. This optical illusion was because it was soooo much bigger than all other jetliners.
