Hey, folks, ever stop to consider just how many hats there are and have been through history? Of course, they're all for men! Wonderful hats: fez, derby, eagle feathers worn by American natives, beret, Stetson, Buckingham Palace guards, fedora, Ramar of the Jungle pith helmet, porkpie, trilby, Cockney, Swiss Alpine, Sherlock Holmes Deerstalker, fanciful military tri-corner from 18th century, any culture, they all have wonderful hat gear. Oh, yeah, I forgot. I collect hats. 😃

I agree with another player: I like it when the other choices are explained as well.

I hit the wrong tile due to a nerve disorder. Frustrating but nothing to do I guess. Would be nice if one could replace it with say a more difficult question once in a little while to even the playing field. If I'm wrong that's fine - I like to find what I don't know or think I know and learn the right answer. Boo boo. Heheheh.

WaldoLydeker, hats were very fashionable 100 years ago if you look at pics or film it’s difficult to find anyone hatless. My grandfather had a hat factory and lived like a king but the times changed and fashion with it.He eventually lost his wits being around all the mercury involved in the process of hat making, hence the term madhatter or mad as a hatter.
Bigdong
the hat has 100 folds that represents the chef knows 100 ways to cook an egg

I believe that "bain-marie" is a type of domestic technic to warm up food or sometimes to melt substances, for example, chocolate. Usually it is used a pot with hot water and another recipient is put on the top. It was used before micro-waves. The utensil the text mentions is called a "réchaud", it does the same work as the pot with boiling water and sometimes is portable directly from the kitchen to the table.
Sandy
Did you know the taller the hat the higher the position, in the kitchen and traditionally etiquette says when you r path meets the bigger hat wearer you step aside.

Including me, I spent two years at catering college for management , but still had to learn to cook and had all the chefs kit.
I think I remember that actually a pastry chef wears his toque flattened, but I could be wrong with this
Player #25874027
Doerei, It’s even better if they actually explain the answer properly as well.

Bigdong, and the taller the toque the more experienced the chef.
