Saving Private Ryan was the most realistic and accurate account of D Day, the greatest day could have been, but in those days it was mostly soft account of what took place

Odd that Omaha Beach, the only failure among the five June 6th beaches is the most well known. My father landed on Utah Beach and helped capture Cherbourg, the port used to supply the rest of the war. Even though the Omaha landing was completely different, we watched Saving Private Ryan together so he could say, “That happened to me” or “I did that” without having to describe it. Harrowing to say the least. We both cried through the entire film which was also very healing for both of us. I miss him everyday.
