dollis1963, so sorry. Try to keep a good attitude, take good care of yourself, and reapply with proof - documents, letters from doctors, therapists, etc. After all, you paid into the system. It's yours, and you deserve it. It's far from being a "handout", as some say.

RagingHoplite71101, I may be handicapped now but not when I started working. I worked almost forty years and paid into social security all those years. I believe I deserve ss!

Player #19719147, There is a reason for that. I have been working since I was 17 paying into FICA all those years and when it’s time for me to Collect our wonderful President threatens if re-elected he will end Social Security. I am hoping to retire next year. I’m 66 years old. Do you think I’ve paid enough to get my share after working and paying for 50 years?

Player #13415344, I don't know about you but my ancestors were immigrants from Hungary. They became citizens and were law abiding. In fact most Americans were immigrants at one time or another unless they are American Indians.

I'm noticing a pattern here. Anything about politics, religion or social security really gets people fired up in this game....

Just mention tv ads for 'pain-relieving braces at little or no cost to you' if you wonder about SS fraud. Those people make a BUSINESS of it. 'We'll contact your doctor', meaning their own diploma-mill staff huckster will submit a 'prescription'. Worst of all, most of these things do more harm than good.

The Social Security system is going to be insolvent in 10 years. The mismanagement of this trust has been a travesty of massive proportions! Every American should contact their representatives and demand a full accounting and immediate action to fix the system.

ATxpos, I don't see the original comment by dollis 1963, but just wanted to add...I first applied for disability in 1993. after 3 full rounds with SSA (a round consists of application, denial 2-3 appeals, final denial) I finally got my SSDI in 2022. I haven't been able to work since 1993!!! Finally!

nimblemoon, they pay for that insurance many years. Unlike socialism which takes from those working hard and gives to those who do not. Sorry, Medicare and SSI were created for working citizens who paid for years to have something later in life. Not a hand out!

nimblemoon, Yeah they love their SS checks, but they have worked their whole life for that money. The exception are the handicapped that are unable to work.
