Keek, For my daughters sweet 16 she chose for us to stay for 3 weeks in Italy. I really loved Rome, but my daughter fell in love with Venice. She said she got the chills and felt like crying every time we had to cross the bridge of sighs. It was just creepy!

Player #2836115, actually it’s called the bridge of sighs because it’s said that prisoners would sigh as they viewed the beauty of Venice for the last time while walking to their cells.

I first heard of it in the film "A Little Romance" with 14 year old Diane Lane, in which the bridge plays an important part in the plot.

Player #2836115, It's called the bridge of sighs because it is the last time the prisoner will see light or the sky through those tiny windows. Most of those incarcerated there never made it out alive. I've been to it a few times. it is dark, damp and cold. Lots of water puddles all over. Thinking of the horrible things that those prisoners went through while touring through it sends shivers up your neck.

Yes, our Gondola rower gave us information when we went under this bridge. Love Venice, even at night we felt safe getting out of our hotel room and walking around the place. I would love to go back there one day
