in south east England where I live (kent) it's now quite common to get lime green ring necked parakeets.
they obviously are not native to cold rainy Britain.
the movie the African queen was actually filmed at Elstree studios just west of London - one of the theories ( urban legends) is that the parakeets were brought to UK for the movie and a breeding pair escaped.

AbleOrchard1, this was my father's favourite film, he also loved the treasure of the Sierra madre. a fabulous film, Bogart and Hepburn are superb.
