I loved these cartoons. The cartoons they show now are terrible and poorly drawn

Tom & Jerry were the BEST! The writing, storylines, BUT ESPECIALLY the MUSIC! I actually heard, (a few years ago) some parents blaming their kid's violent, criminal behavior on 'those violent cartoons on TV'. I couldn't believe it! I've NEVER heard of a kid hit somebody with an ironing board (and watch it bounce on somebody's head 8 times) or drop an anvil off a cliff!

I had no idea Hanna-Barbera did Tom and Jerry. They were produced during the golden age of animation. More artwork. On TV, not as much animation. All of them: Yogi Bear, etc. No comparison. Cheap cartoons, better writing.

LimpingCaddy63639, you need to read the question again. It asks which cartoon appeared first on tv, meaning which among them was the first to be shown on tv. Tom and Jerry was shown on tv before the other did. If the question was "which appeared first on tv as oppossed to any other media" I believe your comment would apply.

WaldoLydeker, I agree. Cartoon animation really hit its peak in the 40s. But the budget conscious studios went downhill in the fifties.
