Hagia Sophia is the best historical site in Istanbul! Highly appreciate it for visitation! ❤️

alouis1199, is right... agia Sofia was the holy Christian Center of Byzantium in Constantinople founded by emperor Constantine the great before the turkish ottoman empire desecrated it. unfortunately they destroyed many artifacts and holy icons and frescos on their quest to turn it into a mosque. in 1930s kemal attaturk turned it into a museum. the orthodox church is currently seeking its return to the Christians.

Hugo, I've been lucky enough to have seen a lot of countries but never visited Turkey. Definitely on my bucket list. Beautiful beaches, a fascinating multi cultural history, great food and not being in the Euro real value for money. I've just got to convince the wife!!!
