When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years. - Mark Twain

My grandma has a picture of her father sitting on his front porch with Mr. Clemence. Apparently they were neighbors and often visited and chatted with each other in the evenings.

CTgamer2016, Mark Twain also lived for a short time here in California, when he came to seek his fortune in the Gold Rush. You can also read his accounts of traveling to Europe, Egypt, and the Holy Land in his Innocents Abroad. He was one of a kind!

I hate that his books are banned .. did you know Mark Twain paid the full tuition including room and board for an African American he met while he was making a speech at a college. When he wrote the words written were what was used in that time. Make your own decision.. I have read his autobiography and the Man was kind to everyone .

and now they are trying to ban his books , I'm so sick of all these pc snowflakes

A little known book by Mark Twain is Jean de Arc. It was first published without his name, and the forward attributed it to a 'translation' of a French author who grew up with Joan. It's a marvellous read.
His books of The Diaries of Adam & Eve are both hilarious and poignant. And his essay 'On the Dying Art of Lying' is a must read for all who enjoy truthful satire (not as much an oxymoron as you might think!).
