I to have sciatica it is one of the worst pains you could possibly have. But I have found out something that is helpful at relieving the pain, swimming. It so helps, found it out by accident. But I thought I'd share. ;)

As a diabetic with neuropathy I know that it is hard if not impossible to cure nerve problems. Once a nerve is injured it stays that way forever. I feel for anyone with injured nerves because it will probably be with them the rest of their lives.

Uninitialized, When my hubby injured his sciatica I used a technique on him that was created by Young Livings owner called the Raindrop Technique. It mimics what early American Indians used to do to treat their injured. In fact, he learned it from some American Indians. You use a sequence of essential oils in a certain pattern up and down the spinal cord. Then you use special massage techniques. I massaged from my husband's neck all the way down to his feet. I used Reflexology techniques on his feet. I did this 2 days in a row, 2 hours each day. Before I used this technique he couldn't even get out of bed or turn over in bed after I did this technique he was perfectly fine and able to function.

The inflammation of the sciatic can be excruciating. At its worst it feels like I’m standing in burning gasoline with my toes being gnawed off!

Moloxia, There is treatment. Injections, a couple of meds that may or may not work for you, yoga, massage, surgery. Sometimes sciatica goes quiet for a few months or even years, but mine has always come back. Surgery gave me almost 15 years of peace before the most recent return.

"Misaligned spine" is not a medical condition any more than chiropractors are medical doctors. If you have a true spinal problem, a chiropractor can make it much worse. Buyer beware.

I suffered a pinched sciatic nerve after lying on my side during hip replacement surgery. The operated hip is fine, but I woke up screaming in pain on the OTHER side and had to learn to walk again.

Lionessa, Some times they are correct. And they do help. But keep them away from your neck. As a physical therapist once said to me.

Bunkinater, My chiropractor said I was out of alignment which caused my pain and also told me not to use my back pocket for even just my drivers license which he noticed I did. I was a school bus driver and did not want to carry a purse around. If anyone has pain like this, I urge them to see a chiropractor especially if a doctor at some hospital wants to do surgery. Get that 2nd opinion!

Found I had 2 of the 5 diagnosese mentioned. After spinal surgery now have permanent lower back pain, numbness in both feet and 2 little ties on each foot. Sometimes there can be issues in surgery, but I was warned that sometimes things happen.

I learned early on not to carry a wallet in my back pocket while sitting or driving for an extended period of time. I know of several people (myself included) who've suffered from sciatica as a result. Clearly that's not the only cause, but it can cause the problem.

I started seeing a chiropractor for my back and hip pain, which can be excruciating! he said my neck needed adjusting and my pelvis is crooked which is probably why the sciatic nerve is aggravated. anyone else see a chiropractor.

Heartland Old Guy, I have nephropathy for years now but I do not have diabetes. for several months I have been hurting down my hip and my lower back. I'm wondering if the sciatica caused the neoropathy. I started seeing a chiropractor.
