That wasn't a "recession." It was a full blown "depression" sweety.

Buzzem, And of course the greedy overpowered career politicians excluded themselves from 2 terming themselves. Washington also believed that a 2 or multi party system would create the unbearable divide that our Country has and is experiencing in these disgusting times.

Yeah, FDR did some great things, and fought hard to get the country out of the Great Depression. But he also ran for a 3rd and 4th presidential term, ignoring George Washington's unwritten rule that two terms was the limit for the good of the country and prevent a dictatorship from developing. So promptly after FDR, both parties supported amending the Constitution to make sure it never happens again!

Buzzem, Just want to add a bit. FDR also did a very good job with WWII. Among other attributes he was a great statesman. He conducted himself with honor and integrity when meeting with other politicians from nations we didn't agree with.

Buzzem, I, too, think a 2 term limit is enough. But, sometimes, I think, depending on the individual, that a President should be allowed to run for a 3rd or 4th term again, especially with so many events taking place in the world nowadays.
