doxierescued, the House of Representatives started impeachment proceedings against Nixon but his resignation stopped the process before it was finished. So he was never actually impeached, but he would have been if he had remained in office.
To date, Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton are the only two US presidents who have been impeached, and since they were both acquitted by the Senate neither of them was removed from office over it.

Impeachment is not the same as a removal from office. Bill Clinton was impeached. But Nixon very likely would have been removed from office after impeachment.

The House of Representatives has the job of impeaching. lmpeachment is like an indictment; it merely says that there is enough evidence to proceed to a trial.
After impeachment, the case moves to the Senate, which will then either acquit or convict. If they convict, that's when the person is removed from office.

John F Kennedy was against escalating the US troop involvement in Vietnam. Lyndon B Johnson, from Texas (where President Kennedy was assassinated) was sworn into office in an airplane (probably Airforce One). Within a couple of weeks, our troop involvement in Vietnam was tripled. I wonder... Do they make munitions or military grade weapons in Texas?

AppleA815, Nixon called an end to the war in the 1st half of his 1st term. Johnson was the president overwhelmed and out of control. He made the decisions that caused the war to spiral out of control and then when it came time for him to run for a 2nd, chose not to run & left a mess. Nixon was a criminal in the end, but he & Kissinger brought that nightmare to an end. Imagine if Johnsowon.
