How many official languages are recognized by the UN?

"recognized by the UN" is a lot different than "officially used by the UN", this question makes it seem like they don't see other languages as true languages.

Dragonlady, Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, Russian, and English. I'm unsure which Chinese language they mean, as there are two major ones.
