I also say it is ridiculous because our children need to learn the history of the country they live in, good bad. I am American and am glad to know the good and bad that happened here and am glad my children, both adults now, have learned it also.

He wiped the French out on the high seas & paid for it with his life! I definitely admired him as a man regardless of any feet of clay of which I know none. And I'm a Quebecois Frenchman. There's no room for for bigotry in real and especially in neutral territory as a game. It's called SPORTSMANSHIP

It only became Trafalgar Square in commemoration of Nelson's victory at the battle, and subsequent location for the statue honouring him. Before that, the area was called Charing Cross... the site of the last cross honouring Queen Eleanor who died in 1290

We liked Trafalgar Square so much that we visited four times. There was a public art project going on, people getting 15 minutes on the plinth to do whatever they liked. It was fascinating.

sunsetdb7, charing cross still exists, ofc. In fact, its a 6 mile radius of there that black cab drivers have to learn to pass 'the knowledge'. All 300+ runs of it. On average it takes 3 years to learn.

My friends and I used to explore London on a red bus rover for 50p. We loved feeding the pigeons and climbing the lions.

My father was a Master Stonemason and restored Nelson's Column around 35 years ago and I am very lucky to have climbed and stood on the plinth at the top of the column. The views are amazing!!!!
