Why do pineapples have small spikes?
Correct answer: It protects the fruit until it is ripe

Doesn't this lend evidence to the theory that Nature is all connected and that there's an underlying consciousness to it all. Through all my struggles in life, I must admit I love reality and just being here, it's all such a miracle.

Until I lived on Maui, I thought pineapples grew on trees, like bananas!

pineapple juice is good for a sore throat, healing properties
Fins
Mayzz, you will need to be patient though, as it takes two full years to produce a pineapple. However, once the stalk forms in the leaves, the fruit will form and eventually become a bright yellow. Then it's ready to harvest and will be, by far, the most amazing pineapple you will ever eat! Good luck!

Fins, I take the top (spiked) part and peel off some of the leaves then put it in water for about 3-4 weeks when it starts to get “roots” I plant it in dirt it makes a pretty plant (I don’t expect to grow a pineapple)
Living in Minnesota I like a lot of plants 🪴

You should not eat pineapples. Thespikes are still in that delicious food. That will hurt your stomach. Look at it in a microscope. But I love them.
Woman on Fire
wilma fingerdoo, Unfortunately this is not always the case due to the way the fruit is harvested. The center leaves start to rotten but that doesn’t mean the fruit inside will be ripe. Your best bet is to pick a fruit that is just this side of yellow and slightly firm. Take it home, lop off the top and chill it for a day. And then prepare it as you like. If still not quite softened enough put whole fruit in a dark place for a day or two but check often as it will ripen fast. Enjoy. Another fun fact is that the core of the fruit has analgesic properties in that it is a mild pain killer. Save the core and chew or process the core with juice to alleviate mild symptoms. Only fruit known with this quality.

I know someone who loves to make me piña colada's because I'm such a big fan! One day I drink cup of the cup, and suddenly my tongue started to get numb and I couldn't fully taste the beverage anymore. About a month later I read an article that said eating too much pineapple or the juice can stop you from tasting other foods. I know that's true.
