NF, micro-tears in tendons aka strains. heal by being replaced with inflexible scar tissue. Full thickness tears aka ruptures need to be surgically reattached and also scar a lot.

Tendons tears DO NOT HEAL ! They need surgical repair ! For 7 months now , I have a 60% rotator cuff tear that needs surgery to repair the tear , which involves anchors being placed in my bone , so my surgeon can surgically attach my tendon to my bone with stitches , then my arm will be in a sling for 8 weeks .
