On a standard piano with 88 keys, how many are black?

The piano is also classed as a percussion instrument because the keys move hammers which hit the strings. It differs from other stringed instruments as the strings are not plucked, strum or rubbed by a bow.

Having read the notes and seen what a really versatile musical instrument the piano is , I am still left wondering one thing . How on earth does somebody come up with the concept of such a thing ?
