If you like constant dust storms, heat and little shade, you'll love it there!

I was stationed there during the 60's. 120 in the summer and cold on the winter. Then I was sent to another beautiful spot called Viet Nam. 😬

Ft. Irwin is not too far away from there...speaking in relative desert distance...It's a mean desert to train in...necessary...but mean as hell.

Destino Manifesto
Joshua Tree is also where the late great singer/songwriter/guitarist Gram Parsons died. Anyone recollect The Flying Burrito Brothers("Love Hurts", "Dixie Chicken")? 😬

Destino Manifesto, Also where his friends attempted to cremate him, according to Gram's wishes, & spread his ashes there as well. They had to steal him, coffin & all, before he was sent to Louisiana where his father wanted to bury him. Now that's TRUE friendship! The final remains after the attempted cremation were indeed sent to Louisiana, but a lot of Gram stayed in Joshua Tree.
