It is 911 in the USA & the defibrillator is called an AED here, which stands for Automated External Defibrillator. Which is easy to use & gives you prompts on how to use it.

Calling 911 on a UK mobile phone will automatically redirect you to the 999 emergency number.

Hi all, For info... 112 is the agreed emergency telephone for all twenty-eight member states of the European Union (including the UK) and some non-members, such as Russia and Turkey. Those of you who may be visiting Europe will find it easier to remember just this one number. 112 is free to use in all of these countries and will even work if you have no credit left on your mobile. #StaySafe

Louis Tanguay, the writer is obviously referencing the UK as he also mentions the NHS. That’s the National Health Service and you don’t have one.

Tannar33 is correct. Not all defibs are AED (automatic), including the one pictured. As a CEN, TCRN I can assure you that not just anyone can use a standard defibrillator.

An AED and a defibrillator are different. One requires the user to interpret the cardiac rhythm which requires special training. An AED is a type of defibrillator that interprets the rhythm for the user and can be used by anyone. The picture in this question is a defibrillator and cannot be used by anyone.

Player kdsr/lte, I was in CCUat our local hospital after suffering my first heart attack. At 4:00 a.m. I had another, major attack, and the two nurses on duty said, "We're losing her! Get Dr. Duncan!" I was above them, in no pain, when they grabbed the defibrillator and I felt terrible pain and was back on the gurney! They brought me back! I was disappointed!

A defibrillator and an AED is two different machines. Defib can only be operated by a doctor or paramedic or someone specifically trained to operate the device. This is the device in the movies where they shock the patient with two metal pedals. AED is an automated machine where any(preferably trained) place two stickes on the patient and press the button. Thus, the answer to this question is WRONG. I work on these every day as a clinical engineer...

Here in Oz it's called an AED. if you call your local emergency in any country, it Should get redirected to the area your are in. if I was in USA I could dial 000, which is the number for emergency services here, and I should get rerouted to 911. it should be the same in many countries.
