Correct answer: Maine

missy189
Wow, he was ahead of the times. I didn't know they even had mail-order back then. Good to hear that the business remains run by family members!

pattikake
love their boots

IllustratedGrrl
After that first bad run, he's very lucky customers gave him a chance to make it right. I feel like that might've been the end of him if this happened nowadays.

We drove to Freeport, Maine in 2004. The LL Bean store is huge with giant pair of boots in the front.

missy189, Sears Roebuck and Montgomery Wards were popular

Great store

missy189, Sears, Roebuck & Company was started as a mail order company in 1893. They innovated the idea.

If I were his parents, I would have given him a different middle name, Leonbean. Leon Leonbean Bean. You can almost hum it.

I love Maine! Ogunquit, York, and Old Orchard Beach are fun trips with lots to do. Fun Fact: The Maine Diner in Wells, Maine has been featured on a few shows including both Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-ins & Dives & The Phantom Gourmet! :)

I worked there in the late 70's and early 80's it was a great place to work. They would thank you for your work when they handed you your paycheck

Vic, Stephen King has brought a lot of attention to Maine, but I'd stay away from Castle Rock and 'Salem's Lot...especially after dark...

missy189, another person who got tired of the cold weather and headed south to Florida to warm up,, but the state of Maine is rarely talked about, it is a beautiful , wonderful state, interesting people living there, wonderful food, great sea side, so so much to explore, check it out,

Sharon Fay
JDoe555, Old Orchard Beach is lovely, our summer getaway

My Grandparents met in a shoe factory in Freeport, where I believe they worked for Beans.

I have an L.L.Bean thick wool sweater my mother bought for me in 1978. I still wear it. I took my daughter from DC to Portland (ME) in 2005, and in the hotel room at 3 a.m. she shook me awake demanding to go to Freeport. I object, but she insists that Bean is open 24/7. I drive there, and she is correct! Even more than that, so is Friendly's, where we wait for her initials' embroidery. The Bean complex is huge, with at least 20 stores repping their different elements.

Bobo, someone had complained about this in comments a while back and another player commented that when you are signing up for or registering in the app that there's a place for you to choose your country or nationality or something. I can't remember the specifics but that's the gist of it. Maybe you can try that... hope it helps:-)

mrsforbes618
missy189, you never heard of the Sears(or JC Penney) catalouge?

Player SQinfoNUTS
Bobo, I agree with you. I live in the US. A tremendous amount of the question seemed to have to do with TV I watched when I was a kid or else things that you could not help with missing if you simply been alive for 5 years and lived in the US.

Learned something new!

PatScott19
jameswes, Definitely.

ImpertinentPony72241
tina, yeah, it would be specific to the US.

Bobo
a lot of questions are about US history, geography, etc. We should have more general world wide questions! Just a suggestion🙂
