MatteusMaximus, Elephants have emotions similar to humans. They cry and shed tears. They have been extremely mistreated by humans throughout the years. After many years of working hard labor in circuses , laws were finally made banning this abuse.

they protect each other in a group. they are very smart. they are amazing animals! we need to protect them from poachers for their ivory tusks. the same with rinos. there is one white rhino left in the world that is protected under guard. how sad what happens to them for their tusks. humans who do this are evil

Elephants are beautiful, sensitive and emotional animals. I've been lucky to spend time in the Kruger National Park and seen them in their natural habitat where they are the most beautiful. Long may they continue to thrive and breed.

Elephants are extremely intelligent creatures. Their herds are comprised of Female relatives however the oldest member leads the herd to watering holes and ALWAYS remembers where they are no matter how long it's been since they were there last.

Did you know...a female is pregnant for more than 2 years b-4 they give birth ?( I'm pretty sure that's true) And they've followed the same trail that Thier great- great ( and more than that) ancestor had b-4 them.

Jules, My Godmother, a truly amazing & loving aunt, RIP, also loved & collected elephant figurines. They had to have their trunk up as that symbolized Good Luck. I just realized as I was reading this that she was just like elephants & perhaps that is why she admired them so much! I miss her so much.

Hey, if you're planning to visit elephants, especially in Thailand where I just went, make sure you go to sanctuaries that treat them well. There are a lot of shady ones out there, usually the ones that let tourists ride the elephants. You'll end up feeling sorry for the poor creatures when you see them chained up, used as attractions, or mistreated. They're such gentle giants. (And don't even think about approaching the wild ones, they're not used to humans.)
