Cute show that unfortunately started the cruel dolphin captivity industry. The trainer for “Flipper”, Ric O’Barry, has dedicated his life to rectify what’s happening (Dolphin Project)

This information is incorrect, Flipper was usually played by a female dolphin named Mitzi, I know because my grandparents, the Santinis were the owners and trainers of these dolphins!!?

I actually grew up on Key Biscayne and saw them film some at the Seaquarium. The work that took!! The dolphins worked endlessly, while the stars took breaks. The Dolphin Project started way back then. if you donated money, you could swim with the dolphins in a small cove on the Key. Amazing and enlightening time.

While visiting the Bahamas, I joined a sightseeing group that got to meet Flipper from the second movie. When he kissed my cheek he then did an excited tail walk. He only did it after kissing me and one other person. I felt so honored.

sadly, the dolphin ended up drowning herself, yes this is possible. I am completely against using animals for our gratification and amusement, ex. sea world, it's animal abuse
