Who, or what, is Puget Sound named after?

With plenty of reading a wide array of material on numerous subjects, one may slip up and learn something. I did, and spent many hours as a kid in the library. I was a poor student and quit high school. But that didn't stop me from wanting to learn. 😬

mollydragongem, how do we expect a person to know this?? By expanding their universe beyond their belly button, reading books, and not being a complete jackass!

SQinfoNUTS, or live here. Or you could be a marine biologist. It's one of the most diverse (and beautiful!) ecosystems in the world. But hey! I see questions here for other regions, and some, I admit, are beyond my ability to know. Or characters from shows I have never heard of, just as I run out of hints and coins. I feel you. Meanwhile, Check out the Sound!

To the west are the Olympic Mountains and National Park. Fifty miles wide, with eight ridges rising, and falling deep between each, to about eight thousand feet, then eight ridges back down to the Sound. To the east are the Cascades, including Rainier and Baker, and the cities of Sesttle, Tacoma, Olympia, Everett and Bellingham, among others.

PointedVirgo58747, I didn't know either, but when I think of the Huguenot, I think of the French Protestants that were often persecuted by the Catholic majority. I knew that Puget is of French origin, so I put the 2 together. Ta da.
