What is meniscus?
Correct answer: Cartilage between the femur and tibia
Player #3277072
Meniscus is also a depression on a liquid. Even as a medic, I was annoyed and confused by this question.
Player BlueDragon
Actually a meniscus (plural menisci) is a fibrocartilaginous pad inside a joint and between at least 2 bones. So while menisci are found in the knee joint which itself is located between the femur and tibia, they are also found within the temperomandibular joint as well.

FearsomeFlyer2654, I’m only 46 and my meniscus has to get removed due to an injury that was caused from my military service. After surgery, it’s never been the same since.
Dianna Bella74
My brother had that happen. Footballer injury. They had to remove it as it was torn just about in half. He brought it home with him in a jar so we could see what had happened. He was 16. Now at 50 plus he has since had a full knee replacement because of that injury. Sport is fun but injuries stay with you forever many years after the glory of the game is long over and forgotten. Now his 3 sons are to play no contact only.

Player #3277072,
I thought it came at the edge of a liquid in a container,a slight rise where the liquid’s surface tension creates the effect of it trying to climb the walls of whatever it is in
Timbo
can also be the effect of adhesion of water in a cylinder.

Player #3277072, Yes me too, although I am not a medic.
Player #37289179
RockNRollMama82, I didn't even know I owned a meniscus until one of mine blew. That pain!
Player #37289179
vallyval, I would give birth ten times over because that was easier to bear than the blown meniscus I had.
Player #32567393
Cozzy 25,
I’m sure that it means something else as well. 😎

doc7048, I totally agree with the after surgery but, mine is 12 months & not healed
RockNRollMama82
I only know this because I tore the meniscus in my right knee at age 42, by making my bed!

I regularly put my knee caps out just kneeling or bending down, happened since I was young it hurts but once they are popped back in the pain vanishes 😳

my torn miniscus locked my knee in a bent position for a day . it was only painful to try to straighten it. if it feels locked now, I put the foot above the other leg and use my hand to twist, back n forth, and to bend the knee , bringing the foot up the leg from shin to thigh .

Player BlueDragon, Is that the difference between the Medial and Lateral Meniscus??
Player BARTEMAEUS 10
Dianna Bella74, Don't know how old the sons are, but they'll probably rebel one day.
Player BARTEMAEUS 10
palitja, That's also called a miniscus.

Player #3277072, the actual definition for meniscus is a crescent or crescent shaped object so technically it can apply to a lot of things
Tamara_1985
Both of my knees are affected by a torn meniscus but luckily so far I don't need surgery. Though at times it hurts a lot.
