just for all us Yankees, could you please also state meters as feet and km as miles? Really appreciate that. Thanks

footnie55, yes! some people get annoyed when they give feet or miles. I like it when both measurements are stated.

The initial fervor due to presidential assassination just doesn't last. McKinley went the way of Cape Kennedy, which lasted a mere 10 years, while the former lasted almost 100 years! Poor Garfield just didn't generate enough excitement to have something named after him, even if only "temporarily." Abe has his mug on Rushmore, a state capital, and towns, schools, insurance companies, et al. Well, c'mon, the guy was unique. He earned all the praise and the imposing memorial.

Is it really called Mt. Denali? I've only heard it called Denali. Saw it a few years ago. Beautiful. Rare sighting, as it's often surrounded by clouds.

WaldoLydeker, I grew up in Garfield Hts. Ohio. Garfield's monument in Cleveland's Lakeview cemetery is beautiful and his home in Mentor, Ohio is interesting to tour.

footnie55, Just multiply the meters by 3 and add a little extra. For the miles, multiply by .6. This will get you a good estimate. 625 km is about 375 miles.

I am born and raised in Alaska and Mt. Denali has always been called Mt. Mckinley up until just a few years ago. Strange to me to see it referred to as Mt. Denali.
