I read the book and saw the film, both in 1975. The "ultra violence" on the screen was quite an eye opener as compared to just reading about it. (I was 14) I think this is when I realized I wanted to always watch the film version after reading a book whenever possible. Like with the book/film "Jaws".

In "A Clockwork Orange Resucked" the author said he hated what Kubrick did with the book. Kubrick left out the final chapter where Alex's growing maturity starts to mellow his teen angst.

it was crap -Kubrick banned the film himself on the night of its release-purely to drum up notoriety
