Who were "Kukla, Fran and Ollie"?

This question made me think of early TV puppeteer Shari Lewis and her 'friends' Lamb Chop and Charley Horse.

That takes me back. watched them as a kid along with Sheri Lewis and Lambchop and of course Charley Horse and Hush Puppy.

Hunt Nelson44, I grew up in a suburb of Chicago remember the show well. Fran's brother, Lynn, owned the record shop in Skokie where we hung out in HS. He was famous in his own right, having played in Glenn Miller's band and was also married to Gloria Van, a local well known vocalist.

When I was young in Chicago I remember Garfield Goose with Frazier Thomas , there was a Goose puppet , a rabbit and a mouse. Fans would send in little outfits for the puppets.. and of course the 2 minute clip of Clutch Cargo

ZI REMEMBER WATCHING THIS SHOW AS A KID. IT WAS MY FAVORITE. HOWDY DOODY WAS GOOD TOO.

I think we had a record of the performers including Ollie and Kukla in the 50s . Didn't play it that often.

Fran was also a regular character on "Don Macneil's Breakfast Club," a morning radio program also out of Chicago. She was the TV advertising voice for the Cubs for a couple of years when the Cubs were so pathetic that they urged trips to Wrigley Field to admire its beauty rather than watch the ball club.
