SilentDiplodocus3417, natives were citizens of their own tribe on their own claimed land in the Americas. As the land was taken by the settlers, they either moved on or were moved to an Indian reservation, ( reference the "Trail of Tears). It wasn't till much later, I believe Teddy Roosevelt, that declared the tribesman to actually be "native Americans".
