This doesn't explain anything about gastrin. Gastric acid is not a hormone. Gastrin is, and it's different from gastric acid. It is secreted by G cells in the stomach and the duodenum and it stimulates the parietal cells of the stomach to secrete gastric acid. The acid also does not really digest proteins. It initiates the conversion of the inactive enzyme pepsinogen into it's active form, pepsin. Pepsin is the enzyme primarily responsible for protein digestion.

Cassie Vespa, Either way I didn't know potassium chloride and sodium was in the mix of gastric acids. Also bicarbonate to balance put the acidity in the stomach and the duodenum. Our Creator thinks of everything !
