Wendell Thomas, That is such a presumption on your part! Have you never heard of reading disorders? I for one never liked reading in school. I didn't know it at the time but I was dyslexic! It wasn't until I was in my 40's did I learn that I had a reading disorder. But I pushed myself on, at that age to get my law degree! Be careful with your words, they can hurt people!!!

Brought back memories of a school trip to Guernsey, my first holiday without parents. A bit of an eye opener, as I was reared by strict parents, unlike the majority of the other kids that went.

nimblemoon, I don't recall a book, however there is a film called "Sweet Potato Pie". It is about a group of Guernsey Islands who formed a book club once a week. Since this kind of thing was frowned upon by the invaders. One evening some members were stopped after curfew and said they were part of 'the sweet potato pie club...and we're told to hurry up and get home. It is an olde film, of course, but with a wealth of British humour.

UnfilledInertia8, It is not easy to deal with sometimes, but keep on trying. We have a friend, who is also dyslexic like me, & he found that red ink/text color on white paper/blank white screen is his answer. He is able to read fine if he is able to use that form/type. It does not work for us, but it is something to try.

lostiaz, I went to Guernsey to visit a friend, she took us to see different places, one being the underground hospital, a very depressing place as you can imagine, but also a very interesting place if you are interested in history especially world war two. God bless those souls lost because of that terrible war.

A movie was made about this event--The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It is about how forming a reading club by some of the residents became a sort of refuge and escape from the severity of the German occupation. It also provided a means of support and companionship for the group.
