GRAM'S FOLLY, I am from Southern California, six months after Katrina I and a church went to New Orleans. We had to stop and stay overnight in Beaumont, TX before crossing over to Louisiana. Others from church flew. I liked the drive maybe because I had been east.

I read quite a few comments and was very surprised that no one Texan mentioned the fact that Texas has had 6 flown over her in the past. My husband is a proud Texan and reminds me of this fact periodically. 1. Spain. 2., Mexico. 3. independent country of Texas. 4. the Confederacy during the Civil War, 5. USA 6. flag of the state of Texas.

I lived in Alaska for 6 years. Three years on Kodiak Island, 8 months in Kenai and two and a half years in Tanana. A little village right off the Tanana/Yukon river. Very beautiful state, great people.
