My grandfather was friends w/Dillenger and helped him evade capture after he robbed Central National Bank in Greencastle. IN. That was his biggest heist. Grandpa hid Dillenger and his gang under tarps behind his gas station as the cops looked for him all over town, never found him. Our local museum confirms they'd heard this same story too.
