Guiltyofbeingwhite, Plus your assertion about the incorrect assertion is correct. I'm disappointed in all the people disliking your comment........ Plus, don't feel guilty for being BORN white. You have no control over your heritage, nor are you responsible for what happened over 150 years ago.

slavery has never ended in the United States of America... It just EVOLVED into something different... but it still exist in so many ways

Laykan122088
the 1/7 who said south are still in denial haha

BronzeCrystal23
chells, I disagree. My ancestors are German descent . They were poor immigrants who picked cotton for a living. They didn' t believe in slavery and fought on the Unions side during the war. They lived in the South. I believe back then if you were captured you were put to death because the south believed it was an act of treson. NOT all caucasions are to blame.

It is only known as “simply the Civil War” in the US. Many, many other countries have had their own civil wars, including my own. Some Americans need to realise that there’s a big wide world beyond their borders.

The portuguese are the ones actually responsible for the start of African slave being sold in the Americas in the the early 1500’s. However it is white men who purchased them. From Europe , Brazil and America. Just dispicable! The actual use of any kind of slave slave slave, black, white, yellow, brown any color has been around since 3500 bc. The ottoman empire had indentered slaves way before the african slave trade existed. So slaves and slave trade wasn’t a new concept it was a new people being used!

Player #244477, Not so much directed at you but at what point in a culture does a race of people evolve? Lately, it seems that on a daily basis, people want to bring up circumstances that were acceptable to society in the past and castigate people who engaged in ordinary practices. We've become a society of dinner pointers attempting to destroy anyone with whom we disagree. How about we move on instead of closing to relive old wounds.

While, I don’t know the whole history of slavery, I do know that it’s horrible to treat another as inferior based on the color of her/his skin, gender, sexual orientation, religion or anything else for that matter. I believe if we treat each other the way we want to be treated then life is better for everyone.

ReleaseEpsteinFiles
Not slavery itself, but the cruel and barbaric way African slaves were treated by white slave owners. It was inhumane, they seen and treated them like animals. Slept in barns, pointy chains around their necks, lips, and ankles, they ate scrapes, worked from dawn to dusk to the bone, whipped merciless and raped brutally by the owners, breed like cattles and sold off for profit. Their babies were taken away from the mothers at birth and sold. Dehumanized on a daily basis. When they asked to be treated fairly, they were punished. The desire for freedom was a crime punishable by death.
After the slaves were free, former slaves owners doubled or trippled the cruelty against the free black people. Free blacks were now hated and despised even more because they could no longer be used to make money. The loss of money angered the south, and then blacks were hunted, killed for sports, laws were written to oppress and marginalize them. They were hunted and lynched like game animals. Many pictures of white ppl taking selfies with the burnt corpses of black men and women.
While many other cultures overtime got rid of slavery and accepted everyone. America refused to acknowledge the free slaves as a whole man/human.
Rules, laws and policies were created to keep them down; to block their paths to success. Black schools got outdated books, blacks not allowed to own homes, treated differently and unfairly by the government.
Discrimination and racism are part of American culture

MommaVee
d3nsei, there's nothing stopping black people from going back to where they were stoken from. Either they need to do that or stop throwing slavery up in people's faces that had nothing to do with it. A lot of black tribes had their own black slaves and even took part in the "stealing" of other black people from other tribes. What happened in the past needs to stay in the
e past. We need to be looking forward since we ended slavery long ago plus even tho slavery happened, it allows those to be currently living a much better economic & educated life than they would have had if they hadnt been stolen

MommaVee
NYRUDEDOG, Thank you for making the point that slavery had been around since forever & was an accepted practice which we had no control over. Even black people had their own slaves in Africa back then. I think the idea of reparations is ridiculous. At least we ended slavery. At least slavery allowed people to be born in the US instead of some poor backward country & they have better economic opportunities as a result. Im white & I refuse to feel guilty over what happened in the past which I had no part in. We need to learn to move on if people want racism to end. As long as we continue to make it an issue we are never going to heal. No one today has owned slaves nor has anyone been a slave. We ended slavery a very long time ago so lets stop making an issue of it and become an united peoples so racism can truly end too. We need to look forward & stop bashing people for what happened in the past

There was no excuse for brother killing brother for slavery or any other reason !!!! The Civil War wasn't just fought over slavery it was also fought over States Rights and many people even some slaves felt that the North's power was getting too federalized and centralized, there's a lot of ignorance on this subject. When the slaves got their freedom and went North, the Northerners wouldn't give them jobs, feed them or help them in any way. The Northerners were hypocrites. God doesn't smile on the Civil War one little bit !!

The US has not evolved in over 159 years. They are literally still fighting their civil war, as you can see here.

CDubs
The Civil War was actually about state rights versus government rights. Most of the Southern states believed they had the right to own slaves per the laws of their own individual state. They did not want the federal government to have the ability to come in and tell them how to run their state according to what one small group of officials decided was best. This was not even a new concept - 75 years before the famous Thomas Jefferson had fought for the idea of state autonomy when our founding fathers were forming the government of a brand new country.
