TaureanTrish, I think that many of these deaths are attributed to Stalin rather than the war , and I think I recall that many returned POWs were executed

This is still happening in 2022, in the war in Ukraine. This shows how awful WAR is. No one wins. But at least they got rid of Hitler.

Player #25874027, yes, and also Stalin ordered his troops to fight to the death, any that retreated were executed. When the war ended, Stalin feared how his returning soldiers might resist his rule and many were sent to gulags, many dying there.
