Even in the 1950s you still had to talk loud with long distance calls. Didn't receive many or make many of those rare phone calls because of the costs.

Player #8124401, That is correct. He worked with Tivadar Puskás, a Hungarian engineer, who came up with the idea of a phone. He asked can you hear me in Hungarian "Hallod?", hence we say 'hallo' on the phone even today. ;-)
