On the 1950s U.S. TV sit-com "Father Knows Best", what does father (Robert Young) do for a living?
Correct answer: Insurance Salesman

too bad most families today aren't like the family on Father Knows Best

WaldoLydeker
"Father Knows Best"!!! That's why I love this game. My dad died when I was 5, watched FKB when I was 11, every week. I'm getting ready-eyed

MercilessLemon44818, Very few families ever resembled shows like this, but I love watching it. It is nice to wonder what it would be like to grow up in such a supportive, loving environment.

MercilessLemon44818. The show is far better than shows like Roseann or the Simpsons, along with numerous other sitcoms, that reinforce dysfunctional relationships.

JimmyLovesQL
Yes, the sitcom of yesterday which thankfully showed a wise father and mother and kids without smart mouths auditioning for Broadway.

JimmyLovesQL, Unlike Roseanne, Simpson's, and that horrible show, that I do not recall the name. The wife's name was Peg and a dumb husband and 2 horrible kids. Our kids watch these shows and see this as real life and we have to set up clear boundaries that a I am in no way a Peg or a Marge Simpson and I did not name you Bart. Give me Father Knows Best any day.

MercilessLemon44818, How many ever really were? The show was on at a time, when life was presented idealistically. I was not born when it was on, but I enjoy watching it. Somehow I feel a sense of security, that there surely must have been a few families similar to this. The actor, who played Bud has a great deal of resentment towards the show to this day. He said that it was so unrealistic to how real families are.

It was on years before I was born, butI watch the reruns and love the show. Yes, it is from a very different time, but I wish I had parents like them.

mr Cunningham was the best tv dad...want proof remember when richie missed the winning shot in high school basketball game mr. c gave richie a lifesaver to make it alright..nuf' said!

Ward Cleaver was also a kind and wise, intelligent 50s tv dad..

BellaLatte
Roxanne, wait wait. !!! HD was a doctor....maybe a pediatrician or deliver those babies!

Roxanne
SparkyChaz2018, you must be young. I lived during that time period and just about everyone I knew had a similar family and lifestyle to the Father Know Best family. Sorry it is no longer the way people live now but it did exist in the 50s and even most of the 60s.

Mel
I AGREE, WHERE ARE SHOWS LIKE DONNA REED, LEAVE IT TO BEAVER, AND EVEN HOME IMPROVEMENT? MOST OFTHE TIME I WATCH MOVIES.

Player #9495659, exactly. I am 77. It is fantasy.

Player #45221343
To all idealizing FKB, that's all it was an idealization. Real families weren't like that. They had all the same problems and disfunction as families today the problems were just hidden behind a facade of happiness. Abuse was rampant but kept "secret," everybody knew but nobody said anything.

Player #9495659, I'm pretty sure you mean 'Married With Children' with Al Bundy, Peg, Kelly, Bud, and their neighbors the Darcy's. I used to watch this show when I was a kid. It's not a show I would have let my kids watch when they were younger but it seemed normal to me at the time. Being a latchkey kid I didn't exactly have any adults around telling me I couldn't watch it.

Player Quitos
Isn't insurance for pessimists?

Never really cared for this show. I don’t know why either. If I had to chose, I would say Ward Cleaver was more understanding that Jim Anderson.

It was funny in "The Stepfather", Jerry Blake made the remark: "Father knows best" after his step daughter got expelled from school.
