Charles Ingals took his family west and had no clue what he was doing. He built his house in a flood plain once. It was vaguely referred to in one of the episodes when Laura and her father walked out of their front door to talk and stood by a huge tree that had clearly washed down the river in front of their house in very high flood waters.
